Five Marathi Films Released On Single Day


First time in the history of Marathi cinema, as many as five films - Touring Talkies (Trupti Bhoir), Prem Mhanje Prem Mhanje Prem Asta (Mrinal Kulkarni and Sachin Khedkar), Kurukshetra, Yeda (Ashutosh Rana's first Marathi movie) and Chintu 2 - are hitting theatres today. In Mumbai circuit, Chintoo2 running at 70 screens, PMPMPA running at 64 screens, Yeda running at 49 screens, Touring Talkies running at 41 screens and Kurukshetra running at 10 screens.

The decision to release five films on Friday stems from the fact that Ek Thi Daayan is opening at just a couple of single screens.

DGM of Cinemax India, Girish Wankhade, said: "I have closely worked with the Marathi film industry. I wish they had spaced out their films. We are giving each of them a few shows, but ideally, we would have given them larger exhibition."

Head of Operations of Fun Cinemas, Anand Vishal, said, "We are releasing only Yeda and Prem Manjhe Prem Manjhe Prem Asta."
