Marathi Remake of Shaukeen

After entertaining viewers with the story of three retired men out on a joy ride to enjoy things they missed out on during their youth, the 1982 Hindi comedy 'Shaukeen' has now inspired a Marathi film. Director Dr Mrunalini Dayal Patil is currently working on a Marathi version of the Basu Chatterjee movie.

The film titled 'Kaay Raav Tumhi' will have senior actors Ravindra Mahajani, Satish Pulekar and Yatin Karyekar essaying the roles portrayed by Ashok Kumar, Utpal Dutt and AK Hangal in the original one. Hemant Dhome and newbie Niyati Joshi will play the roles of Mithun Chakraborty and Rati Agnihotri from the film.

Speaking about the film Mrunalini said, "Directors like Basu Chatterjee, Hrishikesh Mukherjee and their genre of cinema has had a great influence on my mind since I was a child. I wanted to share a fragment of their illustrious work with the Marathi audience and hence decided to make this film." She further added, "'Kaay Raav Tumhi' will not be exactly the same as 'Shaukeen' but will be on similar lines. I will be incorporating a few changes in the script to make it suitable to the present times."

While RD Burman had composed music for the original, Bollywood music director Kanak Raj will arrange the music for the Marathi film.
