Producer files case against Manasi Naik for unprofessional behaviour

Makers of the film 'Pahili Bhet' have slapped a case against actress Manasi Naik for "unprofessional behaviour".

The producer Dilip Gangwani alleged that Manasi inconvenienced them during the shoot and also behaved rudely with the unit members. The makers also said that the actress left the shoot incomplete on some scheduled days, because of which they had to incur losses.

When contacted, director of the film Anil Shimpi admitted, "Manasi created a lot of problems for us during the shoot. She was very difficult to work with and threw tantrums everyday. She had given us 14 days, but she turned up for only seven days. She also had a problem with the costume designer because of which we had to incur an additional loss. Because of her inconsistencies, the producers have also lost a lot of money and that is the reason they have filed a case against her to the tune of Rs 20 lakh approximately."

A complaint was first filed with the Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Chitrapat Mahamandal (ABMCM), which was signed by all the film's unit members. Later the ABMCM suggested that the producers approach the court.

When we contacted Manasi, she said that she has been facing problems right from the beginning of the project. Rubbishing the allegations as an attempt to malign her, Manasi said, "The allegations are false. I have always been extremely adjusting on the sets. The makers have insulted me several times. In fact, on the third day of the shoot, I was not even given a vanity van. When I tried to speak to the producer, he avoided taking my calls and spoke to me through the director insultingly. I was on the verge of tears that day."

When asked about the case slapped against her, Manasi said, "I don't want to blow this out of proportion. I have requested Ameya Khopkar, who is a friend and heads the Maharashtra Navnirman Chitrapath Sena, to try and sort this issue out of court. I want the makers of the film to apologise to me. If that doesn't happen, I shall file a defamation case against the producers. They are misusing my name."

Clarifying further, the actress said, "My contract required me to shoot for 10 days, and if required, two more additional days. They wasted a lot of time because of lack of coordination. I can't afford to waste a single day as I have other projects lined up. My payment also got delayed because of all this."

Sudhir Meshram, who was the assistant director on the film, said, "There were some tensions between the actress and the producer. I don't know what happened or who was right or wrong."
