Suresh Wadkar booked in Deolali land dispute case

The Nashik police on Monday evening booked singer Suresh Wadkar in a land dispute case filed after a city court on October 31, 2014 directed necessary action.

Inspector (Upanagar police station) H M Sawant said that the complainant, Mukund Govind Kokil (61), a resident of Motwani Road in the Nashik Road area, had approached the civil court, which directed the police to lodge a case. The police have filed the case against four persons, namely, Suresh Ishwar Wadkar, Vijaya Nilkanth Karandikar, Vishnu Ramchandra Shinde and Vinayak Vishnu Dhopavkar.

Wadkar had signed an agreement with Vinayak Dhopavkar for a piece of land in Deolali, which was allegedly sold to others. Wadkar had earlier lodged a case against Kokil. "No one has been taken into custody. All documentary evidence have been sought from all complainants, which will be probed to reveal facts and appropriate action would be taken," Sawant said.

A new case was lodged against Wadkar on the basis that he forged the documents of the land when the matter was sub-judice. On October, 9, 2013, TOI had reported that the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) of Nashik, Vinay Gosavi, ordered status-quo in the case of the land transfer, in which Wadkar had filed a complaint with the officer seeking his attention towards multiple sale of the piece of land that he claims to be his own.

Wadkar had signed an agreement with Vinayak Dhopavkar for a piece of land in the village, which was allegedly sold to others. In his complaint, Wadkar had claimed that he had the general power of attorney (GPOA) from land owners Vinayak Dhopavkar, Vishal Dhopavkar, Vishnu Shinde, Vanita Ghaisas and Vijaya Karandikar and it was prior to the general power of attorney GPOA obtained by Pradeep Borse from Vinayak Dhopavkar and Vijaya Karandikar, who further sold the land to Dargode.

The police have charged Wadekar under sections 420, 467, 406, 471, 34 and 120B of the IPC for cheating, forgery of valuable security, criminal breach of trust, using as genuine a forged document or electronic record, acts done by persons in furtherance of common intention and criminal conspiracy. Wadkar declined comment on the issue.
