Kishor Kadam Gets Best Actor Award At PIFF-2016 FOR PARTU

The 14th Pune International Film Festival (PIFF-2016), which ended on Thursday, saw over a hundred international and home-grown films compete for the jury awards.

The international jury awarded the Akhil Bhartiya Marathi Chitrapat Maha Mandal Best Marathi Film Actor award to Kishor Kadam for his lead role for Marathi film Partu.

Produced by East West Films and directed by Nitin Adsul Marathi film ‘Partu’ also acclaimed a number of awards that also starred Smita Tambe, Yash Pandey, Saurab Gokhle, Gayatari Deshmukh, Navni Parihar, Raja Bundela Sridhar Mirajkar, Ravi Bhartiya and Anshuman Vichare in prominent roles along with Kishor Kadam.

As the day came to a close, the festival did see films like Natasamrat and Halal also win awards for their screenplay and cinematography, but it was clear that the beginners' stole the audience's and jury's hearts with talent that promises to bring Marathi cinema on to the global pedestal.

Marathi films like Rangaa Patangaa and Kaul (A Calling) also bagged the top honours. 

The film festival also had, for the first time, an international student's category, where the best student films from across the globe were screened for the jury and the audience.
